Our commercial remodel skills were tested for the ultimate client – ourselves! After buying the old bowling alley in Leesburg, we envisioned a new, modern bowling alley and pub-style restaurant with space for Local Woods to expand and operate. We knew the building needed a lot of work – the roof leaked, the air conditioning was broken, the parking lot was dangerously dilapidated, and the old concession stand kitchen wore 30 years of grease. Plus, the sewers and electricity were out of date.
The commercial renovations include reducing the bowling alley from 24 lanes to 16 lanes in order to make room for Local Wood. We installed a new scoring system, and a new kitchen, added windows for natural light, and enhanced the HVAC system and ductwork to heat and cool the building more efficiently. The restaurant now seats 40 and features a four-sided bar topped with copper. The facility also includes an arcade, an outdoor patio, lawn seating – and a brand-new driveway.
Local Wood talent is on display, too, with a custom-built bar featuring reclaimed wood and epoxy river pours, custom-made wood furniture, and tables made from the salvaged wood of the old bowling lanes.
